Get Out on the Water in Siesta Key

Tropical Beach Resorts Blog

Siesta Key is known for its sugar sand beaches and calm, tepid Gulf waters. Sounds amazing right about now, doesn’t it? When you stay with us at Tropical Beach Resorts, we’re right in the heart of world-famous Crescent Beach with its white quartz-crystal sand and an average temperature of 81 degrees. So obviously, spending time out on the water is top priority for many vacation goers at our Siesta Key resort.

Let’s explore a roundup of the incredible watersports options available year round, and get yourself ready for your next Florida vacation with us.

Jet Ski

Jet skiing is a fun way to explore all that Siesta Key has to offer. A half or full day rental is a breeze from any local outfitter, and you can take off to more distant locations that you can with kayaking or paddleboarding. Cruise through the Intercoastal Waterway or hit the Gulf for some open riding. No matter what you choose to do, it’s an amazing day out on the water.

Kayak/Paddleboard

While motorized options are great for traveling longer distances, there is something so calm and serene about kayaking and paddleboarding. First of all, it’s great exercise, and we know you’ll be imbibing on some calorie-packed food and drink during your stay. After all, you’re on vacation.

But it’s also a wonderful way to explore the canals of the intercoastal and see marine life up close and personal. Hitting the Gulf is awesome too, as you don’t have to worry about the pesky rough waves of the Atlantic. Here on the Gulf of Mexico, it’s all smooth sailing.

Sunset Cruises & Sails

Speaking of sailing, one of our guests favorite excursions are the sunset powerboat or sailboat cruises. You can watch the sun sink into the Gulf while enjoying cocktails aboard the vessel of your choice.

Powerboats are awesome to race across the ocean surface and explore the nooks and crannies of the nearby islands. Sailing, on the other hand, connects you to nature inherently since you rely on the wind only (and the captain's sailing skills, of course) to get to  your desired destination.

Go with a group or choose a private charter, in Siesta Key you can’t go wrong.

Dolphin Tours

Dolphin Tours are another bucket list item for many of our vacationers. The Siesta Key area is home to thousands of wild dolphins. Naturally, it takes an experienced captain to find the pod gathering spots and stay a safe distance away from disrupting these sensitive creatures. Let the curious, quirky dolphins come to you!

In addition to dolphins, you are bound to discover sharks, stingrays, turtles, pelicans and other seabirds as well as tropical fish. If wildlife viewing in their natural habitat is your jam, Siesta Key is your place.

Boat Rentals

If you’ve got a valid boating license, renting a boat is a fantastic option. You can explore Lido Beach, Longboat Key and many of the other nearby beaches and islands.

Both powerboats and pontoon boats are available for your adventure in our water wonderland. Of course, you can always add a captain to your vessel with a little advance notice so you can enjoy the beauty of the area without worry.

Parasailing

If high-flying thrills are more your style, parasailing is an adrenaline junkie’s dream. Fly high above the Gulf of Mexico and take in the sights and sounds of the world below you. Go solo or with your partner in crime.

Siesta Key Watersports is our trusted vendor for a safe and comfortable experience. They allow up to 12 people to join in the fun, and up to three friends can go at a time. They also like to up the ante to offer safe free falls and splashes if you’re ready to rock like that. Sail at up to 1,200 feet above the water. What a rush!

Didn’t we tell you Siesta Key is your ticket to the best watersports on the Gulf of Mexico? Now all you have to do is pack up your summer essentials because it’s always summer in Florida, apply some sunscreen and enjoy the fun, adventure and relaxation that are all a part of the Tropical Beach Resorts experience.
