Sarasota Blues & Barbecue Fest - May 6 - 8

BBQ fans will pick their choice of bbq, meat, vegetarian or seafood dishes at the Sarasota Blues & Barbecue Festival at the Sarasota County Fairgrounds from May 6-8. Everything is cooked fresh by local restaurants and food establishments. Attendees will also enjoy live music, a variety of beverages and desserts and a marketplace of arts crafts and more. 

44th Annual Amateur Sand Sculpture Contest - May 7

Pack your beach essentials like sunglasses, sunscreen, pails and shovels and head over to Siesta Key Public Beach on May 7 for the 44th Annual Siesta Key Sand Sculpture Contest. This free interactive event is open to all ages and five lucky winners will receive cash prizes. We can’t wait to see the creations! 

8th Annual Sarasota Shrimp & Music Festival - May 20 - 22

We’re excited to try fresh seafood and enjoy delicious drinks and fresh seafood at the 8th Annual Sarasota Shrimp & Music Festival. Live musical performances will include some of the state’s top musical performers. And who could forget about the mouth-watering desserts? You can also shop at the marketplace that includes arts, crafts, speciality items and gourmet food items. 

Dig The Beach - May 21

If beach volleyball is your jam, jump into Dig The Beach, a Siesta Key Volleyball Classic. Check-in starts at 7:30 a.m. and the competition begins at 8:00 a.m. Saturday and 8:45 a.m. Sunday. Spectator admission is free. The Siesta Key public beach volleyball courts are at 948 Beach Rd. Don’t forget your sunscreen!

7th Annual Memorial Day 5K Hike - May 28

Honor our heroes at the 7th Annual Memorial Day 5K Hike on May 28, hosted by SRQ Vets. We love that this event unites the community with local veterans and raises funds for SRQ Vets, a 100 % volunteer veteran-run 501c3 whose mission is to find resources for local veterans and their families. The hike begins at JD Hamel War Memorial Park and includes a cookout, music, raffles and more!
